Local Early Years Practitioners
After attending the initial session of the recent 'Let them be Two' course, I realised there is a great need for reintroducing Cluster groups in the Oundle area of East Northants to let us meet and discuss any pertinent problems or changes in our profession ... or just to meet socially to get to know each other and exchange ideas. I am happy to host individuals and groups at our setting at the Little Ducklings Preschool in the old school (opposite the church) in Barnwell. 8th November 2012: Our guest speaker was Naresh Lane, an independent health visitor for our area, who talked about developmental issues for 2 year olds. Naresh allowed us to compare our two year old assessment checks with those made by the Health Service. It was interesting to see how they differ from our 2-year checks and gave us an advance view of what the government seems to be planning for health and educational entities working together. Meetings will be each half term, depending on attendance and interest.
17th January 2013: Our guest speaker was Tracey Walton. Tracy's topic was 'Ready, Steady, Listen', to identify resources supporting child literacy development. Tracey wrote: 'the talk will be interactive to show how books help address the needs of children. I have done similar projects in the past'.
On 14th March: Oundle Primary School teachers suggested topics for discussion. 'Transition' from pre-school to Foundation Stage. What are pre-schools providing for schools and how we can make transitions better for children.
On 4th July we held a networking meet together to celebrate our independence, consisting of a social chat with others about how the year has gone for each setting. We sat outside as the weather was good. Happy Christmas and good wishes for the new year 2014.
